From YIA airport to the city

YIA is a fair distance from central Jogja, so it helps to decide before you land. These are the main ways in.

  • Airport train (KA Bandara YIA)Runs between the airport and Yogyakarta station. Good if you're travelling light and staying near Tugu or Malioboro.
  • DAMRI airport busPublic buses run to several points in Jogja and beyond. Usually the cheapest option; slower than the train.
  • Airport taxiOfficial taxi counters are in the arrivals hall. Convenient with luggage or kids; confirm the fare before you go.
  • Driver pickupA pre-arranged driver waits at arrivals and can take you straight to your hotel or first stop. Handy for families and groups.
